Day 102 M and M simulation!

We worked in pairs today to simulate exponential growth and decay using M and M's.

We used the activity found here.

Before delving into this lab, students had explored exponential functions by selecting a video situation from a set of choices I gave them.  I was pleased with their posters!

After the simulation students were challenged to sort out how a, h, and k affect how the exponential and logarithm functions are graphed.  We have studied transformations with each function.  In the past we have used Desmos and sliders to look at how the various values affect an equation.  This time I am asking students to work on the transformations on their own.  This is challenging since the exponential and logarithm functions are new to students.  I am giving them this guide ...
